Craig diagnosed my MacBook Air free of charge and once the issues had been explained to me, he then let me know all of my options for repair. Because my computer was already several years old, I had some questions about repairing it versus replacing it with a new one. Craig helped me weigh my options, and ultimately we decided to switch my hard drive into a used MacBook Air of the same year that he had in the shop. At no point during this process did I feel as though his primary interest was to get money out of me. I would recommend them to anyone in need of a computer repair!

My macbook pro 2011’s logic board died, and of course apple failed to notify people they were fixing it for free up until literally this year. Craig worked on the repair, and while at it also upgraded my RAM and hardrive to an SSD for a very reasonable price. It roars like a lion now, couldnt be happier. In case you're like me and find yourself wondering…hmmm…is this legit? A computer repair shop in the crowded corner of a dilapidated antique mall? Yes, it's legit. I've brought two separate computers here and had excellent service both times. Once to have fan installed in a Dell all-in-one computer; the other to (ultimately) have a new hard drive installed. Second time took a little longer than either of us expected. (It happens.) But, any time I called for a status update, I got an immediate response and full update. And, even though the job ended up being more extensive than originally thought, they stuck with their estimate. I have recommended this place to neighbors, and happily do so to Yelpers as well.

After several weeks of the screen on my laptop occasionally flickering when initially turning the computer on, the screen went completely black. The laptop would still power on but I was unable to see anything on the screen. After doing some trouble shooting I realized that I would need a professional to diagnose and fix the problem. I contacted a few local computer repair companies and Craig was the first person who had an available appointment. Craig spoke to me over the phone and provided some initial thoughts as to what might be causing the problem. He told me I could bring the laptop in and he would take a look and provide a free estimate of how much the repairs would cost. I spoke with Craig a few hours after dropping the computer off and he informed me that he had determined that the screen on the laptop needed to be replaced (approximate cost = $150.) He said he would check to see if he had a replacement screen in stock and could have the computer fixed and ready for pick up on Wednesday, if that would work for me. (I dropped the laptop off on Monday at 11 a.m. Craig’s company is closed on Tuesdays.) I explained that I was unavailable on Wednesday and, if possible, would really appreciate it if there was any way that the repair could be made ASAP so I could pick up the computer later on Monday. Craig said he would try to get it finished so I could pick up the computer later that day. Craig called at 4:30 on Monday – the same day I dropped off the computer – to let me know that the laptop screen had been replaced and the laptop was ready for pick up. Craig replaced the laptop screen and I am now able to fully use the laptop again. Very quick and affordable service with straightforward communication as to what to expect with regard to timing and price.

The Top Tech team was very knowledgeable and professional. They were able to quickly identify the problem and provide an accurate quote. They replaced my son’s Mac-book Pro monitor in just a few days and provided us a 6 month warranty. We went to several repair companies prior to using thumbtack to locate a viable tech. I recently had work done here on a Macbook Pro 15" Retina, through the repair several unexpected problems came up. Craig was easy to communicate with and provided consistent updates on the repair. With the issues that the computer had I would not have been surprised to have gotten a call informing me that the price would be doubling due to the amount of time that had been invested. Through my interactions with Craig and seeing his response to the problems I believe I got a better than normal view of how much integrity this shop is run with.

I’d done business with Craig remotely. I needed to pickup a laptop from him, and my 2011 iMac needed some updates. The laptop was ready when I got there. The memory upgrade was done VERY quickly. The system “slowness” was due to the fact that my internal hard drive had some problems. The drive was replaced very quickly. They installed Yosemite on it, and all I had to was use my Time Machine backup to restore my data. These guys know their stuff, they’ve been at it for a LONG time. They have parts there, so some repairs (as mine) can be done while you wait. They have comfortable chairs to sit in, and many interesting things (including all kinds of vintage computer gear) to look at while you wait.

Craig quickly identified the problem with my Gateway and fixed it at a very reasonable price. He went further to recommend technical fixes to prevent future problems, many of which I could do for free, and even offered solid advice on possible future tech purchases. I plan to use him as my go-to guy for all tech needs.

The Eldest Geek Guys are honest, reliable computer experts with excellent customer service that fixed both an HP laptop and an iPod Touch for me. Located on the 2nd floor of Mt Vernon Antique Center might sound unusual, but once you see their simple yet efficient set-up and get quoted an extremely reasonable price for service, you'll understand the value of low overhead costs.

For someone that has thrown money at cars and boats that were well past their prime, it was refreshing to get an honest and clear assessment of future use/value of my electronic devices from these guys and then decide whether I wanted them serviced. They answered all my questions and were very straightforward and honest about what options I was looking at with my devices. Both the HP laptop and the iPod Touch still had good use/viability and these guys put them both back to prime working order in less than 24 hours.

I wholeheartedly recommend these guys and will only use them in the future to fix my computers/phones/etc.

FYI: closed Tuesdays but open every other day including Saturdays and Sundays. Parking is ample on either side of the building and there is a convenient street behind the building to re-enter traffic safely so you don't have to try to make a left turn out onto the highway.

I used The Eldest Geek guys for several items including an HP laptop and an iPod Touch and I am very impressed with not only their capabilities as computer experts but also their integrity and reliability. The Eldest Geek guys were easy to find: their shop is on the 2nd floor inside the Mount Vernon Antique Store at 8101 Richmond Hwy in Alexandria. That might sound unusual to some, but when you see their simple set-up, it makes a lot of sense since they are keeping their overhead costs super low. Parking is ample on either side of the building. Turning left out of there onto Richmond Hwy is not recommended by me, but there is a convenient street behind the building that moots the need to do so. FYI: they are closed on Tuesdays, but open every other day, including Saturdays and Sundays. The Geek guys have excellent customer service and make sure you and they are on the same page about what service is being done. They are very forthcoming/honest about whether your computer is worth updating/pouring money into, which was much appreciated coming from someone who has poured way too much money into cars and boats that were well past their prime. They quoted me a reasonable price and a quick completion-of-services timeframe which were met accordingly. My HP laptop was swamped with malware/adware/u-name-it-ware and it needed to be wiped clean and restored to its beginning functionality and, this time, have the proper and most-up-to-date anti-wares installed to help keep most–of course, not all since the expert malware producers out in the world are ever-clever and quite productive–of the bad-wares at bay. They explained very clearly what the best antiwares were for that type of laptop and I went with their recommendations. The laptop is being dedicated to playing Minecraft, Clash of Clans, etc and many other seemingly badware-magnet games/apps/etc someone wants to play and all of it is up and running smoothly. As for the iPod Touch, we were locked out for a number of days due to failed password attempts and, on top of that, I wasn’t sure if it was worth keeping. The Geek guys clearly explained the value it still had and it was ideal for the purposes I needed it for and it was fixed on the spot and is performing its functions ideally. The Eldest Geek is a business that we will be using and recommending from now on.

I am a small business owner and had some trouble with my main computer at work and I was going to miss payroll for my staff as well as not be able to fill a customer's order and Craig and his team saved the day! I am in home improvement and computers are my area of comfort. Craig took his time to help me understand what was happening and what he could do. MacBookPro was unresponsive. They installed a new battery at a very reasonable price and were extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. I highly recommend them. .

These guys are great. I brought them a laptop with a broken power button (which wouldn’t turn on). They figured out the problem (which was something else) and fixed it promptly, and for a very fair fee that was much less than buying a new laptop.

They are located in Mount Vernon but don’t let that scare you if you are in Arlington – they also do house calls.

They provide a six-month warranty on any repair.

They fix any desktop or laptop, including Macs. They can open the case, figure it out, and fix it (including repairs that involve soldering). Their affiliate, Orlogic Repairs, does logic board repairs.

If your laptop RAM or storage is upgradable, they also do that.

TopTech also has used laptops (Mac and PC), which also have a 6-month warranty. Unlike the used laptops on eBay, Amazon Warehouse or Craigslist, with these laptops you know what you are getting and there is someone who will fix it for free if there are problems.

Craig is my go-to guy whenever I have a computer problem–Mac or PC. He is always honest and up front about what might be wrong, how much it might cost to fix it and offers handy suggestions of what to do next.
