My wife spilled tea on her new top-of-the-line Retina Macbook, and it fried. Talking with geeks at Apple and Microcenter, the best they could offer was a "deal" on a new machine, and my $3,000 down the drain. Saturday at 6:30 PM I called Craig (the Chief Eldest Geek), not expecting much. He said, "bring it by and let's have a look". Hidden on the second floor of an antique shop (think of movies Wizard of Oz and Gremlins), elbowed between floor-to-ceiling stacks of computers, was the man himself. Craig dropped the bottom cover and showed me how the liquid had gotten deep into the chassis, under the logic board and power supply. Craig said he could fix it, "no doubt" and gave me an estimate, which although steep, was worth it to resurrect my wife's computer (and my wife). It took quite a bit of doing, and he had to replace a handful of logic board components, but sonovagun, Craig did get that machine back up. At home I found that the charging circuit still wasnt working right, and gave it back to Craig for more work at no extra charge (he considered it part of the first repair). This time he got it right; Craig promised that my Mac would be "100% as good as new", and this time it was. MEANWHILE… I had my old spare Macbook die on me ("kernel panic"), conveniently the day my Retina machine was ready for pickup. so I brought it with me. Craig's stepson Alex was holding the fort. Alex popped the cover off and within 30 seconds confirmed that the RAM card was bad. He found a good card in another machine of similar vintage in the pile, slid the good card into my machine and it was back up, with twice the RAM it had originally. I almost had to argue with Alex to take the money for the second repair, which was a very reasonable price. In case you have doubts, these guys are the real deal. Dont let the antique store put you off, these guys have the know-how, tools, and test equipment to do very complex component-level repairs that even Apple doesnt do. And BTW, young Alex has proven to be quite the geek himself! I FINALLY have somewhere to bring my Apple products for expert, old-fashioned REPAIR! Thanks, guys.

Let me keep this simple: based on my experience, Craig will 1) fix your computer, no matter what the problem is, 2) do a better job than Best Buy’s “Geek Squad” for a fraction of the price, and 3) let you know ahead of time exactly how he will fix it and give you an estimate that will have you smiling. I am a small business owner and had some trouble with my main computer at work and I was going to miss payroll for my staff as well as not be able to fill a customer's order and Craig and his team saved the day! I am in home improvement and computers are my area of comfort. Craig took his time to help me understand what was happening and what he could do. I messed up my iMac by thinking it would be easy to swap out my hard drive for an SSD. Everything went well, until it didn't… My display stopped working and the hard drive wasn't detected.

Don't be fooled by this business nestled in an antique store. The owner has saved my computer, hubby's laptop and even a phone. The office is closed on Tuesdays. If you don't mind allowing permission to access remotely, you can have your laptop analyzed while you are still at home. The employees are honest and diligent.

Very simple operation on the second floor of a great antique shop. Save the over whelming swarm of employees in blue shirts, table tops full of the lastest gagets, and a bar full of young cocky techs that diagnose your computer using a 30 second test. Craig has been working on Apple computers since the company's infancy. He has competitive prices and fixed my display issue on my MacBook in one business day, without the need to send my computer off for an indefinite amount of time as the Apple Store would have done. Although Macs are his specialty, he is also able to help with all makes and models as well. I'll definitely keep Craig, and The Eldest Geek, in mind for my future computer needs. Highly recommend!

These folks are amazing. I have used him in the past to fix my computer, which he did and he made it better than it was before I took it to him. I recently purchased a computer from him and got such a great deal. They are very knowledgeable and explain things on a level I can understand. Craig quickly identified the problem with my Gateway and fixed it at a very reasonable price. He went further to recommend technical fixes to prevent future problems, many of which I could do for free, and even offered solid advice on possible future tech purchases. These guys are great. I brought them a laptop with a broken power button (which wouldn’t turn on). They figured out the problem (which was something else) and fixed it promptly, and for a very fair fee that was much less than buying a new laptop.

They are located in Mount Vernon but don’t let that scare you if you are in Arlington – they also do house calls.

They provide a six-month warranty on any repair.

They fix any desktop or laptop, including Macs. They can open the case, figure it out, and fix it (including repairs that involve soldering). Their affiliate, Orlogic Repairs, does logic board repairs.

If your laptop RAM or storage is upgradable, they also do that.

TopTech also has used laptops (Mac and PC), which also have a 6-month warranty. Unlike the used laptops on eBay, Amazon Warehouse or Craigslist, with these laptops you know what you are getting and there is someone who will fix it for free if there are problems.

He transferred all data from a damaged computer to a new computer. He did it while I waited. I was thoroughly pleased with the results.

I’d done business with Craig remotely. I needed to pickup a laptop from him, and my 2011 iMac needed some updates. The laptop was ready when I got there. The memory upgrade was done VERY quickly. The system “slowness” was due to the fact that my internal hard drive had some problems. The drive was replaced very quickly. They installed Yosemite on it, and all I had to was use my Time Machine backup to restore my data. These guys know their stuff, they’ve been at it for a LONG time. They have parts there, so some repairs (as mine) can be done while you wait. They have comfortable chairs to sit in, and many interesting things (including all kinds of vintage computer gear) to look at while you wait.

In case you're like me and find yourself wondering…hmmm…is this legit? A computer repair shop in the crowded corner of a dilapidated antique mall? Yes, it's legit. I've brought two separate computers here and had excellent service both times. Once to have fan installed in a Dell all-in-one computer; the other to (ultimately) have a new hard drive installed. Second time took a little longer than either of us expected. (It happens.) But, any time I called for a status update, I got an immediate response and full update. And, even though the job ended up being more extensive than originally thought, they stuck with their estimate. I have recommended this place to neighbors, and happily do so to Yelpers as well.

I brought my computer to his shop expecting I needed a new board or a recovery from a failed hard drive. It turned out to be a virus and my computer is back working better then it has for a long time.

Somehow I completely messed up my Windows 7 operating system on my old Lenovo T430 Thinkpad. Even though I have many years of experience as a web developer, I had no clue how to fix this. I researched as much as I could, but clearly fixing operating systems on laptops is not my forte. Ihad actually bought a laptop from Craig back in October, which is lightning fast, and it was backed by Craig, so Iknew I was getting the real deal. Unfortunately, I haven't had a lot of time to play with, as I couldn't bring it with me to Mexico. For this laptop issue, Craig was able to perform a repair on the operating system and it took about 2 hours to complete. Craig and Alex have the most experience thanany other technician in Washington DC, and I wouldn't even think about bringing my computer to anyone else.

Responded quicker than I could put my phone down. We also ready to get the job done. Highly recommended!

Craig was amazing. Quality work and quick! I will be taking all of my computers to him when they need fixing. He really knows computers!
