Craig was able to fix my laptop in a day, no hourly charge though it was not an easy fix, I highly recommend The Eldest Geek. Price was very reasonable. They can fix any computer problem !

Let me keep this simple: based on my experience, Craig will 1) fix your computer, no matter what the problem is, 2) do a better job than Best Buy’s “Geek Squad” for a fraction of the price, and 3) let you know ahead of time exactly how he will fix it and give you an estimate that will have you smiling. I have found the computer guy for all of my computers!

I will be returning to Top Tech for any future computer problems and recommending their services to anyone having issues.

About a month ago, I woke up one morning unable to power on my 4-5 year old laptop. Having a Geek Squad service coverage, I first took it to Best Buy to have them take a look. A costly, risky solution was offered, but I wasn’t fully convinced it was the only option.

After doing some research, I found Top Tech/The Eldest Geek and, impressed by reviews, decided to give them a call. I spoke with Alex, and after describing my problem and giving him my model information, he immediately gave me 3 or 4 possible issues that could be preventing my computer to start. It was evident that this guy knew his “you know what,” so I took a ride out to the Top Tech offices the next day for a free diagnostic.

In about 5 minutes, Alex found what the issue was and gave me an estimate, which would be for the actual work only and not a part that needed to be replaced. A few days later, he called and said it was all ready to go. The computer is now running better than before and Alex even replaced some loose screws free of charge, so it feels sturdier as well. All of this was done at a fraction of what Geek Squad was suggesting, which I’m not even sure would have worked and kept my data intact – something I stressed the importance of to Alex.

Since having this repair, I have also turned to Top Tech to complete a data transfer and replace a broken screen on my brother’s laptop. If you’re having a problem and feel like all hope is lost, give Top Tech a call. Their services helped me to avoid a major business and personal setback.

Alex is so personable and knowledgeable. He fixed my desktop iMac, gave me a tutorial in the new operating system, and charged me much less than Apple would have. 2 thumbs up. 5 stars. And the antique shop is a blast, too.

I am writing this review from the laptop, 2 months after it got fixed with Craig the Eldest Geek.
My macbook pro graphics failed and it never booted… it stopped at the grey screen and nothing happens.. When I took to apple store, they refused to work on it as my laptop is customized with an SSD drive in place of the optical drive. Craig took the laptop for fix, and he took his time, but gave it with the perfect fix that I didn't have to look back.
btw he also fixed my iPad2 where the power button was not working..
For mac support, he is the go-to person and you won't regret..

Also it is good to know that he sells pre-used/refurbished computers at affordable prices at the desired configurations.. I would consider buying from him for my next computer needs based on the trust he earned..

I am a small business owner and had some trouble with my main computer at work and I was going to miss payroll for my staff as well as not be able to fill a customer's order and Craig and his team saved the day! I am in home improvement and computers are my area of comfort. Craig took his time to help me understand what was happening and what he could do. Having experience both in a computer repair shop and as a software developer, I can confidently say that The Eldest Geek is the most honest and fair computer repair shop you're likely to find in northern Virginia. If you're not a computer person and are looking for a shop that's going to use their knowledge to help you, and not cheat you, this is the place.

I recently had work done here on a Macbook Pro 15" Retina, through the repair several unexpected problems came up. Craig was easy to communicate with and provided consistent updates on the repair. With the issues that the computer had I would not have been surprised to have gotten a call informing me that the price would be doubling due to the amount of time that had been invested. Through my interactions with Craig and seeing his response to the problems I believe I got a better than normal view of how much integrity this shop is run with.

I'll be returning here for any future work I need done and wouldn't hesitate to advise others of the same.

Excellent experience- my HP laptop died & after assessing the situation, they were able to sell me another laptop & transfer my data. I'm so happy to have discovered them, now I know where to go for tech solutions.

These guys are great. I brought them a laptop with a broken power button (which wouldn’t turn on). They figured out the problem (which was something else) and fixed it promptly, and for a very fair fee that was much less than buying a new laptop.

They are located in Mount Vernon but don’t let that scare you if you are in Arlington – they also do house calls.

They provide a six-month warranty on any repair.

They fix any desktop or laptop, including Macs. They can open the case, figure it out, and fix it (including repairs that involve soldering). Their affiliate, Orlogic Repairs, does logic board repairs.

If your laptop RAM or storage is upgradable, they also do that.

TopTech also has used laptops (Mac and PC), which also have a 6-month warranty. Unlike the used laptops on eBay, Amazon Warehouse or Craigslist, with these laptops you know what you are getting and there is someone who will fix it for free if there are problems.

MacBookPro was unresponsive. They installed a new battery at a very reasonable price and were extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. I highly recommend them. .

A little unusual setting, but very knowledgeable, straightforward, and helpful. Price was reasonable. The only problem was the repair did not hold and the laptop hinge popped after two days.

Craig quickly identified the problem with my Gateway and fixed it at a very reasonable price. He went further to recommend technical fixes to prevent future problems, many of which I could do for free, and even offered solid advice on possible future tech purchases. I plan to use him as my go-to guy for all tech needs.

Craig fixed my MacBook Pro after it sustained water damage. My screen’s backlight was not working and he replaced the logic board and had it back to me within a week, and charged a reasonable price – much less than Apple. Also, Craig is the only person I found that can do hardware in the entire D.C. area. The trip from Foggy Bottom to Alexandria was worth it. Craig and Alex are masters of computer repair. I've been using computers since the late 1970s, and these guys are the absolute real deal. In addition to their expertise, they are very friendly, and they make customers feel right at home in their shop.

You don't need any other company to fix your computer. I've dealt with them several times, ALWAYS with positive results. Their fees are MORE than reasonable and their work is of the HIGHEST possible standard-it doesn't get any better than that!

Have an older iMac I wanted to repair and he was the only person who would work with me. He gave me honest feedback and a variety of options on how I wanted to proceed with estimates and pros/cons for each. This gent is now my go-to repair man for all computer issues.

I recently had my McBook trackpad replaced by the Eldest Geek. I was very satisfied with their work. Not many shops were opened during the shutdown but I'm glad I was able to find them and get my MacBook running again. Thanks Craig!

Originally, I took my Macbook Air to a different business, and after they told me it wasn't fixable, Craig said he could handle it! When I brought it in, he opened the laptop directly in front of me, showed me the water damage that I hadn't seen on my own, and was extremely helpful/knowledgeable. I enjoyed listening to him tell me stories while he assessed my broken laptop, and in the end, he gave me an excellent deal! Craig is my go-to guy whenever I have a computer problem–Mac or PC. He is always honest and up front about what might be wrong, how much it might cost to fix it and offers handy suggestions of what to do next.
i have bought a refurbished Mac from him and it has worked flawlessly from Day One. He even transferred all my data from my old Mac.
I have recommended him to many friends and every one has reported that they had a good experience, too.
I'll be seeing him this week with a new battery issue and I'm sure he'll find a solution for me quickly and at a reasonable price.

Craig did an excellent job diagnosing the issue – when my computer proved not to be worth fixing, he sold me a better used one for cheap, and spent hours setting it up and transferring over my data for no extra charge! Would highly recommend.

Amazing! I spilled (well my dog did) water on my computer. They actually gave me a trade-in for a better computer for a very low price, and had everything done, within two hours. This saved my life for a presentation. (I now live in Alexandria even though profile says CA.)
